+ What is a staking competition?

The staking competition is an incentivized testnet that includes some specific challenges to give you grants for rewards. This will include qualitative rewards for best attack, community prizes for best content and tooling created, and even prizes for the first 50 nodes to sign up -- and stay on the network through the course of the competition.

Note that the network is in beta -- that’s the point -- so there may be changes to the network. We may also decide to run the competition in multiple rounds if we feel like any incentives change too much during the course of the run.

+ Why is Oasis hosting a staking competition?

Oasis’s competition, The Quest, is a staking competition designed to stress-test the Oasis Mainnet network before it launches and prepare you to get set up on the network before incentives are put in place. Top operators will also get first access to run a node on the Oasis network at Mainnet launch.

+ What do I win?

We have a number of prizes and ways to get involved in the competition. Over the course of staking competitions this year we aim to reward ~1% of total tokens across competition winners, community engagement and grants to eligible winners.

Note that if for some reason there are no major attacks, prizes will roll over to the next staking competition.

+ How do I win?

There are many ways to win. The top prize will go to the “best attacks” that’s done on the network. We’ll also have bonus prizes for best team-player, most blocks produced, as well as rewards for participating in the network without double-signing.

+ Who should join?

This is an open public network and we welcome anyone to participate and play in the competition. This is the first chance to contribute to the Oasis network and the best way to prepare for the Mainnet. Note that citizens and residents of certain jurisdictions may not be eligible due to legal requirements. Your participation and eligibility to receive rewards are also subject to KYC and accredited investor verification.

Winners who are U.S. citizens or residents and who are not accredited investors, may not be eligible to receive tokens as awards. The Competition is not and will not be offered or sold, directly or indirectly, to any person who is a resident, organized, or located in any country or territory subject to OFAC comprehensive sanctions programs from time to time, including Cuba, Crimea region of Ukraine, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran, Syria, any person found on the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals, Blocked Persons List, any other consolidated prohibited persons list as determined by any applicable governmental authority, or any persons who are organized, located, or residents of New York State.
